Summary

VolkerLaser repairs, strengthens and waterproofs concrete and steel structures, offering a tailored package of specialist works to clients across the UK. Our structural solutions include bridge deck waterproofing, expansion joints, concrete repair and cathodic protection works, steel repair and strengthening work, carbon fibre and temporary works, jacking and bearing replacement. We also provide specialist lightweight decking and access solutions, as well as being specialists in long bridge and cable refurbishment.

We're looking for a Bid Writer to help deliver high‑quality, compelling submissions that support our ambition to win new work. You'll work across regional and national opportunities, producing compliant, well‑structured responses, case studies, CVs and supporting materials that showcase our strengths.

This role suits someone who enjoys writing, collaborating with subject matter experts, and managing deadlines in a fast‑paced environment, working out of our Worcester office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare pre‑qualification and supplier questionnaire responses.
  • Review and interpret tender documents to fully understand requirements.
  • Draft clear, tailored bid content and collate supporting evidence.
  • Research and gather information from internal experts to enhance written responses.
  • Produce project case studies, team CVs and technical content for bids.
  • Maintain and update bid library content.
  • Support the development of answer plans and tender overviews.
  • Participate in bid reviews and strengthen content based on feedback.
  • Manage time effectively to meet review and submission deadlines.
  • Handle portal queries, clarifications and document uploads.
  • Contribute to lessons‑learned reviews and continuous improvement.
  • Proofread and format bid content to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Manage low‑complexity bids with support from the bid management team.

About you

  • Ideally a minimum of 2 years' experience as a Bid Writer or Bid Coordinator.
  • Strong writing skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Understanding of the bid lifecycle, tender processes and document management.
  • Able to analyse information and communicate clearly and succinctly.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines and workloads.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
  • Proactive, eager to learn and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of HSEQ requirements and the importance of accuracy and compliance.
