Summary
This new full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis to cover leave until July 2026, at the Penryn Campus.
This position could be an opportunity for an internal secondment, with approval from your current line manager.
Summary of the role
In collaboration with the academic Colleges, the Education and Student Support (ESS) Directorate provides all of the key administration and education support activities that underpin the student experience from Freshers’ Week to Graduation. Service divisions within ESS include Library and Culture Services, Wellbeing, Student Employability and Academic Success, Teaching Quality Assurance and Enhancement, and Education Services. This role sits within the Education Services area of responsibility.
All teams within Education Services are asked to work collaboratively and innovatively as “one team” across wide-ranging but interdependent operational delivery remits for which excellent customer service relies on all areas of responsibility to work together and ensure an excellent staff and student experience. Education Services teams include Timetabling, Examinations, Student Records, the Student Information Desk (SID), Community Liaison, International Transition and Student Support, Education Support (Hubs and alternative programmes), and Graduation.
Main purpose of the job:
To support the University examinations process across the academic year as part of the Education and Student Support Examinations Team. This role facilitates the summative examination requirements of all taught programmes at all campuses, from receipt and processing of examination papers, assisting with exam scheduling, supervising Assessment Helpdesk support (invigilation), and supporting specific provision arrangements. This role will provide support as needed to all summative examination functions, which includes both the main exam periods of January, May and August, and mid-term exam provision falling across the academic year. Since May 2020, all University of Exeter examinations have been deployed and delivered using online digital systems and staff in the examinations team are expected to help coordinate and manage the online examination process, working collaboratively with academic staff and several other University professional services teams to ensure successful online delivery of the examination process.
The role requires good customer service skills and excellent attention to detail. The role holder is expected to maintain successful key relationships with Academic and Professional Services staff across all campuses. Material relationships are also required with Education Support (Hubs), Campus Services, Exeter IT, TEL team, Senior Tutors and module leads.
