About the role:

At St Augustine's we provide holistic care for 52 residents, including those living with dementia, in a warm, supportive environment guided by our values of compassion, dignity, and respect.

Your role as a domestic assistant

As a Domestic Assistant, you’ll play a key part in making our care home feel warm and welcoming. Your role is focused on keeping communal areas such as dining rooms are clean, tidy, and pleasant for residents, families, and visitors. You’ll also support with daily tasks such as setting tables for meals, helping with dishwashing, and maintaining a safe, hygienic environment. By taking care of these important domestic duties, you’ll help create a homely atmosphere where residents can feel comfortable and valued.

Keep communal areas such as lounges, dining rooms, corridors, and bathrooms clean, tidy, and welcoming.
Support daily routines by setting tables for meals and clearing them afterwards.
Assist with dishwashing and keeping kitchen/dining areas organised.
Monitor and maintain stocks for day-to-day use, reporting any shortages to the supervisor.
Follow infection control, health, and safety procedures at all times.
Work closely with colleagues to ensure residents always enjoy a safe, clean, and homely environment.
Respect the privacy and dignity of all residents while carrying out your duties.
What we are looking for

A caring and respectful approach, with a genuine interest in creating a homely environment for residents.
Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to manage tasks independently as well as work well within a team.
Good communication skills to work effectively with colleagues across the home.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in shared spaces.
Flexibility to support with a variety of domestic tasks such as meal preparation support, dishwashing, and general upkeep of communal areas.
Previous experience in a domestic, or care home environment
