We are seeking two female Personal Assistants (PAs) to join a small, supportive team working with a happy, relaxed, and good-humoured transgender woman. The aim of this role is to support her to remain independent in her own home while living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).The available shifts are mornings, with a minimum of four hours per week, along with bank hours to provide cover for illness and annual leave. It is hoped that one PA will be able to work alternate Friday mornings to mirror the hours of another team member. In addition, there will be two four-hour shifts on alternate weekends, followed by alternate weekdays.Any work or life experience of MND would be an advantage. She has a lifelong enjoyment of playing musical instruments and a strong interest in a wide range of music, as well as an appreciation of nature and the beach. While not essential, it would be beneficial to find someone with similar interests to help establish common ground.Initially, the role will involve support with practical tasks around the home and attending medical appointments, therefore applicants must be drivers with access to their own vehicle. As a positive, trusting relationship develops, the role will gradually include more personal care tasks such as bathing and dressing. Meal preparation, medication administration, and potentially healthcare-related tasks may also become part of this valued role, with hours increasing over time. The successful applicants will be sensitive, tolerant, open-minded, supportive, and reliable. If you feel you could help support this resilient woman and assist her in overcoming the challenges she faces, we look forward to receiving your application.
