Summary

Main Duties Clinical Education Lead the initiation and implementation of evidence-based nursing practice in Hospice at Home and the Integrated Hub. Provide evidence-based nursing input into the formation and review of departmental policies and procedures. Plan, deliver and evaluate clinical education and training programmes for registered and unregistered staff, in partnership with service leads. Complete supervised practice of staff within the clinical area. Identify concerns, support development plans and escalate when needed. Work with leads from each service area and the management team to identify training needs and annual training plans. Support the delivery of mandatory and statutory education, orientation and induction for clinical staff. Maintain, evaluate and develop orientation and induction programmes for all clinical roles. Liaise with other hospices and education providers to develop programmes that advance nursing practice. Foster effective working relationships with university partners. Make sure the needs of student nurses and nursing associates are identified and met. Ensure student nurses and nursing associates receive a structured, high quality placement experience, with regular evaluation and follow up. Provide mentorship and support for staff who undertake further education and training. Develop and deliver clinical supervision sessions for individuals and groups. Maintain a knowledge base that reflects contemporary issues in clinical practice and end of life care. Provide specialised advice relating to nursing care for hospice and end of life care. Implement new policies and procedures in practice. Support staff through education when changes are introduced. Demonstrate safe working practices in the use of equipment and maintain equipment training records for all staff. Take part in preceptorship for newly appointed staff and in the education of learners and clinical support workers. Quality, CQC and Governance Lead on quality and clinical governance activities for Hospice at Home and the Integrated Hub, in partnership with the Head of Care and wider leadership. Develop and oversee an annual clinical audit and quality plan. Coordinate data collection, analysis, feedback and action plans. Monitor education, competency sign off, supervision and appraisal completion across Hospice at Home and the Hub. Support services to address gaps. Support CQC readiness and ongoing compliance. Maintain evidence against key lines of enquiry and quality standards. Work with service leads to review incidents, near misses, complaints, compliments and patient feedback. Identify themes and support learning and change. Support risk assessments for clinical practice and education activity. Contribute to quality and performance reports for internal committees, the Board and external partners when required. Participate in and support clinical research, audit and trials relevant to hospice and end of life care. Promote a culture of openness, learning and continuous improvement. Service Improvement and Reporting Work with service leads to design and support service improvement projects. Use data from audit, incidents, feedback and research to shape changes in practice, documentation and pathways. Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures, guidelines and tools that support safe, consistent care. Support evaluation of service changes and share findings with teams and partners. Deputising for Integrated Hub Service Lead Deputise for the Service Lead when requested. Support day to day coordination of the Hub and Hospice at Home, including clinical priorities and staffing within your band and scope. Respond to urgent clinical or operational issues and seek senior support where needed. Represent Hospice at Home and the Hub at internal and external meetings as agreed. Take part in personal objective setting and review, including a personal development plan and the Beaumond House appraisal process. Maintain an active NMC registration and complete revalidation every three years. Keep a professional portfolio that reflects current clinical, education and quality practice. Stay up to date with research and developments in hospice, palliative and end of life care. Recognise and work within your own limitations as defined by NMC standards for registered nurses. Take responsibility for your own actions and omissions and escalate concerns appropriately. Act as a mentor to new staff, teaching and assessing in line with Hospice at Home policies and within scope of role and responsibility. Act as supervisor or assessor for Student Nursing Associates and Student Nurses in line with NMC standards of education. Contribute effectively to audits, development of evidence-based practice and innovation in the delivery of care. Take part in research undertaken by Beaumond House Hospice Care. Remain up to date with mandatory training and attend sessions identified as necessary by the organisation and Head of Care.
