We seek to appoint a full-time Level 2 Teaching Assistant to work with students supported by the Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Department at Ysgol Penglais School. The main focus of the role will be supporting students with a wide spectrum of ALN needs, including running literacy intervention sessions for small groups of students.You may also support students in the classroom to enable them to effectively access the curriculum. This is a varied role that would suit an ambitious individual with a genuine interest in helping students reach their full potential.Ysgol Penglais School has much to offer. Job ResponsibilitiesSupervise and provide targeted support for students, including those with additional needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activitiesUse specialist skills, training and experience to provide outreach support to students with additional learning needsAssist with the development, implementation and review of Individual Education Plans, Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmesEstablish constructive relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needsPromote inclusion, acceptance, independence and self-esteem for all studentsSupport the teacher in creating and maintaining a purposeful, orderly and supportive learning environmentAssist with the planning and delivery of specific learning activities, including literacy intervention programmesMonitor students’ responses to learning activities and accurately record progress and achievementProvide regular feedback to teachers on students’ progress, behaviour and engagementPromote positive behaviour in line with school policies and encourage students to take responsibility for their actionsSupport students in accessing the curriculum, including literacy, numeracy and ICT-based learning activitiesPrepare and maintain learning resources and assist students in their useProvide clerical and administrative support as required, including photocopying and invigilationAssist with supervision before and after school, at lunchtimes and on educational visitsComply with safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection policies at all timesAttend relevant meetings, training and professional development activitiesUndertake other duties commensurate with the role as directed by the Headteacher
