We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.

We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!

Your role:

As part of the Estate Services Team at Haigh Woodland Park, you will lead and manage operational delivery to create a world-class visitor experience. Responsibilities include implementing policies, managing facilities, health and safety, and driving commercial development across retail, golf, and events. You will oversee budgets, monitor performance, and support marketing initiatives. Leading by example, you will engage and develop staff and volunteers, ensuring high standards and cohesive teamwork. This role requires flexibility for varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, to support the park’s transformational vision and deliver a cultural attraction of regional and national significance.

About you:

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, customer-focused leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills. They will have substantial experience in leisure, hospitality, or retail environments, and be able to demonstrate exceptional commercial acumen, ensuring every decision delivers value for customers while driving sustainable growth and positive outcomes, along with proven management ability. IOSH certification and first aid competence are a bonus, alongside a commitment to health and safety. They should be adaptable, calm under pressure, and capable of anticipating and resolving issues. A passion for delivering exceptional visitor experiences, developing revenue opportunities, and supporting marketing initiatives is key, as is the ability to work collaboratively and independently to deliver successful outcomes for both the Council and its customers.

About us:

It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.

Haigh Woodland Park is undergoing an exciting redevelopment, transforming into a vibrant destination that celebrates nature, heritage, and community. This project aligns with Progress with Unity, fostering collaboration, sustainability, and inclusivity. By enhancing green spaces, improving visitor facilities, and creating opportunities for local engagement, we’re building a park that reflects Wigan’s vision of a connected, thriving borough.
