Summary
At London Museum we connect people with the lived experience of London. The story we tell is one of place and people, evolving through interaction and exchange. We summarise what we do in three words: We Are London.
We are looking for a new Assistant Registrar to join our registrar team who support object acquisition, lending, borrowing, and other collections activities across the museum. The next two years will be a busy time for the team as the museum prepares for opening at Smithfield, and the final exit from London Museum Spaces.
Working alongside curators, conservators, collection care and documentation colleagues this post will help to support collections activities such as loan, entry, exit, acquisition, and disposal. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the museum’s extensive collections.
Based at the museum’s London Wall site, but working across its sites and stores, you will carry out tasks with a high degree of accuracy and enjoy solving complex and challenging logistical and documentation issues. You will be organised and self-motivated with the ability to prioritise your own workload. We are also looking for someone who is a committed team player and who has excellent communication skills.
We are looking for candidates who have some experience of working with collections and knowledge of museum documentation processes. Experience of working in a registrarial capacity (for example arranging loans and acquisitions) would be beneficial. Practical experience of using a museum collections management system, and handling and packing objects will also be needed.

Applications are by application form via our online recruitment system. The closing date for applications is Sunday 8 February 2026. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview on Wednesday 18 February 2026.
If you are successfully shortlisted you will invited to an interview. You will be asked to complete a short 30 minute task, followed by a 45 minute interview where you will be asked questions to help us understand more about what you share in your application, and in particular to understand how you meet the essential person specification criteria for the role and demonstrate our museum behaviours.
London Museum is committed to being an equitable and inclusive employer, and to becoming representative of the diversity of London. We particularly welcome applications from people from Global Majority backgrounds, who are currently under-represented in our organisation.
We also welcome applications from disabled people, as we’re a Disability Confident Leader and are committed to recruiting, retaining and developing disabled people.
