Summary
Are you someone who believes every child and young person deserves the chance to thrive? Do you love building connections, supporting families, and being part of a team that truly cares? If so… you might be exactly who we’re looking for!
Your new Opportunity
We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic, compassionate people to join our Dumfries & Galloway Family Support Service as a Family Support Worker. As part of our team, you’ll work alongside children, young people, and their families to offer emotional, practical, and holistic support.
No two days are the same — one day you might be helping a young person build confidence through activities, the next developing outcome plans to ensure every young person thrives. What is consistent is that everything you do will have a positive impact on someone’s life.
We have opportunities available for:
Contracted Posts – evening and weekend working, structured support, and long-term involvement
Relief Posts – flexible, supportive, and perfect for those who want to make a difference around other commitments
What You’ll Be Doing
Building trusting relationships with children, young people, and families
Providing emotional and practical support based on their needs
Helping young people develop confidence, resilience, and life skills
Working alongside a warm, supportive team who are always ready to help
Making meaningful, lasting change to the people we support
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to have all the answers — what matters most is your attitude. If you’re:
✔ Caring, patient, and a great listener
✔ Passionate about supporting the people we support and families
✔ Able to work flexibly and creatively
✔ Willingness to work evenings and weekends
✔ Confident working independently and as part of a team
…we’d love to hear from you!
Experience in family support, social care, or community work is helpful — but just as valuable are empathy, curiosity, and a genuine desire to help others grow.
What you'll get in return
SVQ qualifications via our accredited centre
Generous leave: 29 days + 4 public holidays (rising to 34 + 4 after 5 years)
Training & development opportunities
❤️ Opportunity to change lives through meaningful work
Family-friendly policies
Health benefits: HSF cash plans, physio & occupational health
Free 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme
£500 refer-a-friend bonus (T&Cs apply)
️ Life Assurance & Pension
Cycle to Work scheme
️ Access to Concerts for Carers
Whether you’re looking for regular hours or a flexible relief position, we’d be delighted to welcome you to our service.
Come join a team where your kindness, creativity, and passion will help transform lives.
Full details of this role can be found in the attached Job Role Profile.
