Summary
Electrician
We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and safety‑conscious Maintenance Electrician to support building services at Redditch Magistrates Court.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys varied work, can work independently, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality maintenance across a critical public sector site.
You will carry out both planned and reactive maintenance on a wide range of Building Services Engineering assets, ensuring all work is completed to EQUANS standards and contractual KPIs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine PPM on electrical systems and plant in line with task schedules and CAFM.
- Quickly and safely remedy plant faults and defects to maintain operational continuity.
- Respond promptly to reactive maintenance tasks across the site.
- Prepare and use Method Statements and Risk Assessments for all tasks.
- Maintain accurate records, logs and update the CAFM/PDA system.
- Provide parts lists, spares requirements and estimated timescales for remedial works.
- Oversee and monitor subcontractor works on site.
- Ensure plant rooms are kept clean, safe, and well‑maintained.
- Support out‑of‑hours call‑outs when required.
- Operate the Permit to Work system following EQUANS and client protocols.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to PPE, SHEQ processes and reporting accidents or near misses.
Additional Duties
- Support the Helpdesk when reporting or updating PPM or reactive work.
- Produce condition/dilapidation reports where required.
- Ensure all maintenance complies with the latest BS7671 standards.
- Develop strong professional relationships with the client and stakeholders.
- Maintain a smart, professional image at all times.
About You - Skills & Experience
- Qualified to one of the following: City & Guilds 236 / 232, 239 (Inspection & Testing) desirable, or equivalent electrical qualification.
- 17th or ideally 18th Edition qualified.
- Strong background in M&E maintenance.
- Ability to fault‑find, diagnose and rectify complex electrical issues.
- Able to plan, prepare and oversee electrical shutdowns safely.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Comfortable representing EQUANS in a client‑facing environment.
