Are you a dietitian looking to develop your expertise in diabetes care?
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic dietitian to join our Diabetes Specialist Team on a fixed-term contract, covering maternity leave. A secondment may be considered for the right candidate.
You will be part of a forward-thinking team working in an extended and specialist role, delivering high-quality dietetic care to people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes in a primary care settings.
In this role, you will deliver expert diabetes dietetic input within primary care clinics, acting as a vital link between Primary Care Multidisciplinary Teams and the Northumbria Diabetes Specialist Service. You will provide specialist advice to optimise diet and lifestyle interventions and, within agreed clinical frameworks, support medication management where appropriate.
In addition, as a service we deliver a wide range of patient education programmes, including insulin initiation, insulin pump starts, and DAFNE, as well as supporting the training and development of other healthcare professionals. The team is also actively involved in student training and clinical supervision.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the confidence to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Previous experience in diabetes is desirable. A full driving licence is required.
• To act as a diabetes specialist dietitian and provide a comprehensive and effective dietetic service to the Trust.
• To work as part of a multidisciplinary team within Northumbria Diabetes Service and Primary Care.
• To provide education for patients and other health care professionals about nutrition and chronic disease management.
• To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust. This means demonstrating a consistent leadership style which (a) engages, enables and empowers others (b) uses coaching to promote ownership of learning and quality improvement and (c) facilitates team working and collaboration within teams / departments and across organisational boundaries.
