On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for an experienced Manual Lathe Machinist to join a well-established engineering organisation based in Sheffield. This is a permanent position offering a competitive salary and long-term job security within a busy workshop environment.
The RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for setting and operating manual lathes to produce high-quality components to engineering drawings and tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities-
Set up and operate manual lathes

Machine components from engineering drawings and specifications

Work with a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloys
-
Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and finish

Carry out basic machine maintenance and tooling changes
-
Inspect finished components using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges)

Adhere to health, safety, and quality procedures
Skills & Experience Required-
Proven experience operating manual lathes

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

Strong understanding of machining tolerances and finishes

Experience working with a range of metals

Confident using precision measuring equipment

Time-served machinist or relevant engineering qualification preferred
