Due to the nature of the work, mammography posts have a gender protected character. This is a genuine occupational requirement and as a result this post is exempt under Schedule 9; Part1 of the Equality Act 2010 and therefore only female applicants over 18 should apply.
An enthusiastic clinical support worker to join our dynamic Breast unit team.The post holder will be required to work across all group sites as required by the needs of the service.
The candidate will be providing compassionate and empathetic care to patients whilst they have ultrasound imaging. The role provides support to the Consultant Radiologists and, Consultant Radiographers to ensure that the best quality of care is provided.
Consideration may be given to interview candidates who do not have the full qualifications. These will be employed at a Band 2 until qualified.
The duties are varied and include but are not limited to; room preparation, trolley setting, chaperoning, assisting patients and some clerical work. This role provides hands on patient care and support for all ladies attending the Breast Unit.
The main duties of this role take place in a clinical room working closely with the consultants and patients during ultrasound imaging and invasive clinical procedures.
The Breast Unit is a busy department working within both the National Breast Screening service and a symptomatic breast service. The ability to work in a team and to communicate in a wide variety of settings is essential.
The post holder would be expected to travel independently between all group sites on a rotational basis.

The post holder will be required to;
To provide support and reassurance to patients during ultrasound imaging and interventional procedures.
To assist Consultants, as required, with drainage and aspiration procedures.
To provide after- care and wound dressing.
Assist in delivering optimal patient flow through the breast clinics, in order to provide the best patient experience.
Contribute to a high standard of patient care by effectively communicating with the breast team to ensure a safe and efficient patient pathway
