To assist a young man, to develop his independence skills and provide companionship.
About me
I’m a young man that lives with my parents. I’m active and interested in a variety of activities from football to arts and crafts. I like to go out to the cinema, gym, swimming, bowling and socialising with friends. I need someone to help me with organisation, planning and developing my independence with everything, from handling cash to cooking. I need assistance to progress towards my long-term dream of independence within a supported living environment, while still living a normal life. I do not need any help with personal care, and ideally want to have someone that mainly supports me out in the community with a fun and creative activities rather than remain in my family home all the time. I find it difficult to organise gatherings with my friends to actually make it happen. The support you could offer me will be very individual to your own skills set, as I’m looking for someone to inspire me to try new things.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Your role will involve supporting me out in the community and at home. You will be providing companionship, and supporting me to do things like:
• Going to shopping/gym/swimming/bowling/pubs/football games
• Social inclusion and help with handling cash as needed
• Organisation, admin and event planning to meet my friends
• Develop life skills
• Small woodwork projects

Essential Criteria
• Previous experience in care and support roles
• Must have a driving license and a vehicle which you are happy to use to transport me in
• Able to communicate effectively in English
• Creative, enthusiastic and adaptable person to find ways that I can learn and develop
• Good time keeping and highly reliable
• Inspirational and proactive person
• Previous experience with anxiety management
• Honest and clear liaison with the family
Desirable Criteria
• An interest in creative skills, cooking and football
• Nonsmoker
• Flexible to support me with day trips and/or over- night support eventually
• Computer skills to assist with story writing.
Summary terms and conditions
• Hours, days and times of work: Up to 10 hours per week, 2 shifts of up to 5 hours, (usually 3 hours) on Wednesday and Saturday daytime (hours flexible to be agreed) and other hours to be used as additional shifts as agreed mutually.
• Pay rate: £12.80 per hour
• Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
• Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
• Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
• Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.

• Background check: A satisfactory Enhanced with Adult Barred List Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this position.
