Specialist Provider of Alternative Education
Elysium Training is seeking to appoint an experienced, values-led Pastoral Manager to provide strategic leadership of behaviour, attendance and pastoral systems across our growing alternative education provision.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for a skilled practitioner who is passionate about safeguarding, inclusion and trauma-informed practice, and who is committed to improving outcomes for children, young people and adults at risk with SEND and SEMH needs.

About the Role
As Pastoral Manager, you will provide senior leadership of behaviour, attendance and pastoral systems, ensuring that learners experience a safe, stable and consistent environment where expectations are clear and support is personalised.
Working as part of the senior leadership team and under the direction of the Head Teacher, you will play a central role in safeguarding culture, learner welfare and organisational readiness for Ofsted inspection.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Leading and embedding trauma-informed, relational and restorative approaches to behaviour.
- Providing strategic oversight of attendance systems and re-engagement pathways.
- Supporting safeguarding practice as part of the senior safeguarding leadership structure under the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- Leading and supporting staff practice related to behaviour, attendance and SEMH needs.
- Using data and analysis to drive improvement and provide assurance to senior leaders and governors.
- Working closely with families, local authorities and external agencies to improve learner outcomes.

- Experienced in alternative provision, SEMH/SEND education, FE or specialist settings
- Skilled in leading or overseeing behaviour, attendance and pastoral systems
- Confident working with vulnerable learners, families and multi-agency partners
- Values-driven, relational and committed to trauma-informed practice
- Calm, resilient and able to lead through complexity and challenge
- Motivated to make a tangible difference to the life chances of vulnerable learners
This role would suit an experienced pastoral, behaviour or inclusion leader ready to operate at senior leadership level within a specialist provision.

The Pastoral Leader will be expected to:
- Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding practice in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025), Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), the Care Act (2014) and local WSCP / WSAB procedures
- Promote professional boundaries, safer working practice and professional curiosity
- Model integrity, consistency and values-led leadership at all times
