Summary


Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to present and exceptional opportunity to become the Deputy Director of Estates Development within the multi-disciplinary Property and Estates Development department.

As Deputy Director of Estates Development you will guide the delivery of the ambitious Estates Development Capital programme for the UK’s largest Trust, which consists of a large backlog programme across all ten of the hospitals in group and off-campus properties, as well as being responsible for overseeing the delivery of transformational business cases, such as £40m Emergency Department redevelopment, new £15m Community Diagnostic Centre and enabling programme and for North Manchester General Hospital’s new hospital as part of the New Hospital Programme (NHP).

Reporting to the Director of Estates Development, the successful candidate will be an experienced construction professional with expert skills in stakeholder management, business case development, benefits realisation, programme management and reporting on progress, finance, risk, health and safety and quality. The successful candidate will have direct line management responsibilities and will need to demonstrate experience of leadership in setting distinct objectives, monitoring and objectives realisation. Whilst NHS experience is desirable, we would encourage candidates that have suitable qualifications but no NHS experience to apply, as specific training can be provided.

The successful candidate will be technically adept in a construction-related discipline, enthusiastic, dedicated and an experienced leader with a proven track record of project delivery, programme management and line management of a site-based, multi-disciplinary team of internal Senior Capital Projects Managers, Project Managers and external consultants and design teams. The successful candidate will take a lead on the definition, prioritisation and delivery of the Backlog Maintenance programme and will be experienced in statutory and regulatory requirements that inform the backlog programme as well as have a proven track record of the prioritisation process in forming an annual capital plan. In addition, the successful candidate will be required to provide a strategic oversight of capital investment, strategic planning and estate rationalisation, as well as business case delivery. The candidate will be responsible for the programme management and delivery of capital projects across all ten hospitals within group. Programme management will include, but not be limited to, financial, programme and risk management, as well as promoting a culture of H&S and quality throughout and driving best practice. The successful candidate will need to possess a strong aptitude for managing a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
