Sessional Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker – Multiple Compound Needs

An opportunity to support survivors of domestic abuse with complex needs within residential and community settings, delivering trauma-informed support, risk management, safeguarding and multi-agency working to improve safety, independence and wellbeing.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the gender specific nature of this role, applications can only be accepted from women candidates. SALARY: 13.38 per Hour / £153.84 per Shift (On-call payments for agreed rota participation)

JOB TYPE: Casual / Bank Staff / Sessional – must have flexibility to work as and when required

LOCATION: Bexhill, East Sussex

WORKING HOURS: Working 12 hour shifts, 8am to 8pm, including half an hour unpaid break

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Sessional Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join a dedicated residential and community service supporting survivors with complex and multiple needs.

As a Sessional Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker you will deliver trauma-informed, survivor-centred support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse alongside challenges such as mental health needs, substance misuse, homelessness and offending behaviour.

The Sessional Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker role involves risk and needs assessment, care planning, one-to-one key work, group activities and multi-agency collaboration to promote safety, recovery and sustainable independence.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Sessional Specialist Domestic Abuse Support Worker include:

Trauma-Informed Support Delivery: Providing safe, responsive and survivor-centred support within residential and community settings
Assessment And Risk Management: Completing needs and risk assessments and supporting survivors to reduce risk
Care Planning: Developing and maintaining bespoke support plans tailored to individual needs
Multi-Agency Working: Working collaboratively with partner agencies to coordinate services around the survivor
Residential Environment Support: Creating and maintaining a supportive, enabling and safe living environment
Safeguarding and Safety: Promoting safeguarding, public protection and health and safety at all times
Practical Support: Assisting with benefits, housing applications, paperwork and access to external services
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate records, daily logs and incident reports in line with GDPR requirements
Behaviour Management: De-escalating challenging situations and applying conflict resolution strategies
Structured Activities: Planning and delivering structured activities to support safe reintegration into the community


CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

Comprehensive understanding of domestic abuse and survivor experiences
A strong understanding of multiple and compound needs
Previous experience working with vulnerable or complex individuals
Experience within residential or community-based support environments
Knowledge of safeguarding, risk management and public protection
Understanding of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice
Ability to work in a trauma-informed way
Strong communication, report writing and interpersonal skills
Willingness to undertake relevant training, including First Aid
DESIRABLE

Experience within residential refuge or supported housing services
Knowledge of housing and benefits systems
Experience processing benefit or housing claims
Background in social care or social work
Experience supporting women with complex needs


This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check with the additional barred list check. All required checks will be undertaken as part of the pre-employment process for any successful candidate.
