Summary
The Streetpride Service is Coventry City Council's Street Cleansing and Grounds Maintenance Service. It has a responsibility and statutory duty to keep the City Clean, Green and attractive for all.
Keeping the City clean and green is a huge challenge and not one we can do on our own. The service is delivered by a flexible, locally committed workforce who work well with the different residents, communities and partner,s ensuring a One Coventry approach by enabling people to do more for themselves.
The service operates out of three strategically located sites in the City and provides a cleansing service seven days a week, 52 weeks a year.
We currently clean 10’000 miles of road network each year and empty over 3’000 street litter bins each week.
The service is also responsible for delivering the Grounds Maintenance works across all our Parks and Open Spaces, including our 5 Green Flag Parks and cuts approximately 6 million square metres of grass every 20 working days. That is the equivalent of cutting one thousand football pitches.

You will support the Area Manager in the delivery of these services and will be responsible for supervising, motivating and developing staff to maximise performance and meet the service objectives. You will be working with the community and council partners to maintain and improve Coventry’s streets, neighbourhoods, parks and open spaces, and to promote civic pride and community responsibility.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
- Supervise, motivate, train, and develop crew members to meet service objectives and maximise performance.
- Supervision of the delivery of an integrated cleansing and grounds service within a specified area of the city, to:
- Deploy and supervise crews.
- Resolve any operational issues to ensure work schedules are completed and priorities are met daily.
- Respond to service enquiries/complaints.
- Undertake H&S and Quality Inspections
- Review of schedules
- Work with the community, and internal and external partners to maintain and improve Coventry’s streets, neighbourhoods, parks, and open spaces.

Who are we looking for?You will be:
- Self-motivated and have a good level of horticultural and cleansing knowledge.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required for the job along with the ability to plan, organise, prioritise and delegate appropriately.
- ICT Literate
- You must have a full current Driving Licence
