Summary
The post is based in the Imperial College, Charing Cross Hospital site and has arisen due to a change in the structure of the department. The post-holder will work in the Specialist Neurophysiology department providing dedicated care for both outpatients and inpatients. You will work alongside a team of four consultants inclusive of two locum Consultants and seven clinical physiologists, with a dedicated administration team.
Clinical activity will entailproviding a comprehensive Neurophysiology service. Services include outpatient/inpatient EEG, long term monitoring (includes Ambulatory EEG, Home VTEL and inpatient Video telemetry), all modalities of Evoked potentials, physiologist-led NCS clinics and consultant-led NCS/ EMG clinics.
The role is varied in providing comprehensive neurophysiology care for both adults and paediatrics in a dedicated setting. As a senior member of the department, the candidate will:
• Deliver clinical excellence within Clinical Neurophysiology & provide a wide range of clinical neurophysiological investigations for paediatric & adult populations. This will require collaborative working with colleagues within and external to the Trust.
• Provide alongside consultant colleagues a speciality service to the Trust with responsibility for the diagnosis and management of patients referred to the Clinical Neurophysiology Service to meet growing demand.
• Provide clinical expertise in Clinical Neurophysiology supporting and supervising members of the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
· Contribute in collaboration with the Clinical Physiologists, administrative and management team to the effective functioning and efficient running of the Neurophysiology Department.

The Consultant Neurophysiologist will deliver a range of investigations including EEG, VTEL, EP, NCS/EMG service. The departmentis equipped with networked XLTEK Digital Video EEG systems, Dantec Keypoint EMG/NCS/EP and Cadwell EMG/NCS systems. The department provides dailyoutpatient clinics at Charing Cross Hospital & St Mary’s Hospital (Monday to Friday) and provides urgent inpatient cover across the three sites. Therefore extensive knowledge of Neurophysiology is critical to a high quality service being delivered.
The role incorporates research and training responsibilities, for which active participation will be required in order to ensure the department meets the requirement of research governance and staff knowledge and experience is kept updated as technology and innovation advances in the healthcare industry.As part of good practice, the post-holder will be encouraged to ensure patients are involved in decisions relating to their and proposed treatment plans.
The Neurophysiology Department’s long term vision is to acquire IQIPs accreditation, thus active involvement and participation in making beneficial changes within the service is pivotal.
