Summary


We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate to the position of Locum Consultant Paediatrician. The successful candidate will be required to have a specialist interest but the department is open to all candidates. This post would also include a requirement to be part of the Paediatric & Neonatal attending and on-call rota within the service.

Although this post is advertised as full time in the first instance, we would welcome enquiries and applications from part time applicants. This is a fixed term post within the Trust for a period of 12 months to cover the maternity leave period of a member of the team.

The successful candidate will join a team of 20x Consultant Paediatricians and will undertake a split rota of inpatient and outpatient work providing input into the General, Ambulatory, and Neonatal Attending and On-call rota’s, as well as completion a set number of Outpatient clinics both in General Paediatrics and the determined sub-specialist interest area/s. On-call activities will be allocated on a pro-rata basis.

The appointee to this post is required to:
• Provide senior clinician services to Paediatrics as per job plan or as agreed within the Trust, and as required when on call.
• Work with consultant colleagues and nursing staff to ensure efficient use of Trust’s resources and contribute actively to clinical governance in the department and to development of quality enhancement projects in the unit.
• Show flexibility and undertake different appropriate clinical tasks within allocated DCC sessions at the request of the clinical manager, as the need arises.
• Actively participate in the Unit’s Teaching Programme and undertake supervision, teaching and training of medical trainees and other multi-professional staff, in line with guidance from the relevant Royal Colleges or specialty bodies.
• Actively participate in clinical guidelines development, audit and CPD.

The 0-19 service aims to improve pathways and partnerships with services in the hospital and deliver excellent care for the children and families.
