The Social Services Drug and Alcohol Team is looking to recruit a full time Social Worker in a permanent position. The team is statutory service within Adult Services, supporting individuals affected by drugs, alcohol and/or other substance use across Caerphilly County Borough. The team is based at Ty Siriol in Caerphilly alongside Aneurin Bevan Specialist Drug and Alcohol Service.
The team offer a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, working collaboratively to reduce harm, promote recovery, and support safety and wellbeing. The team work closely with partner agencies, including mental health services, safeguarding teams, criminal justice, housing and community providers.
The successful candidate will be required to practice in accordance with National Occupational Standards for Social Work and Code of Practice for Social Care Workers to deliver assessment and care management services.
You will need to have a good understanding of current legislation and policy. You will also be required to work closely with carers, other professionals and team members or alone using your own initiative. You will be required to support and safeguard vulnerable service users through difficult periods in their lives, therefore effective communication and organisational skills are essential.
For the role, we ask that you have:
1. A Diploma / Degree in Social Work or predecessor qualification.
2. Knowledge of the safeguarding responsibilities for social workers in working with vulnerable adults and children.
3. Experience of working with people who have issues around substance misuse.
4. A Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to visit clients and attend meetings.
