Summary
Thepostholderwillbe responsible as the senior and lead mechanical craftsperson within the in-house mechanical maintenance team includinga wide range of fault-finding and maintenance duties. He/she will be responsible for maintaining all Building Fabric, Mechanical and Electrical building services, and equipment within the Trust properties. To liaise and or coordinate directly with mechanical contractors in the day to day running of the Estates service delivery withintheNewham University Hospital Retained EstateswithinBartsHealth Estates & Facilities Services.
Under direction of the Estates Operations Manager ensure all buildings, plant and equipment are mechanically serviced and maintained throughoutNewham University Hospital Retained Estate in accordance with Statutory & Mandatory requirements in a timely manner. Including Planned Preventative Maintenance(PPM) and Reactive Maintenance (RM), minor works, major overhauls, and replacement. In addition, the Senior Mechanical Craftsperson will be required to be a self-starter who is able to work on his/her own initiative.
Lead estates mechanical team and contractors to ensure statutory, critical, and routine maintenance is completed, recorded, and documented.
Skilled in repair, fault-finding, and diagnosis of boilers, pressure systems, medical gas, HVAC/ventilation, controls, heating/hot water, CAD data systems, and generators.
Develop improvement plans for poor performance. Review works for quality, timeliness, and cost-effectiveness.
Work outside trade in emergencies as directed.
Assist with staff training.
Follow Trust policies, maintain effective communication, and ensure safe systems of work, site induction, risk/COSH assessments, and permit-to-work compliance.
Report unsafe practices/equipment.
Work safely on mechanical/electrical systems as Competent Person. Support audits with Estates Ops Manager to ensure compliance.
Implement legislation, safety alerts, HTMs, HBNs, codes of practice.
Ensure financial compliance and value for money in contracts/purchases.
Hold AP/CP accreditation and perform duties accordingly.
Participate in Estates Craftsperson Team on-call cover for Newham University Hospital.
Implement CAS/safety alerts with guidance/remedial action.
Raise/distribute planned/reactive work instructions, follow up, and report outcomes.
Assist Ops Manager in investigations, complaints, and producing specifications for improvement schemes.
