Summary

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Electrician's at the 100th Civil Engineering Squadron, Royal Air Force (RAF) Mildenhall, United Kingdom.

This role involves the comprehensive management of electrical systems, encompassing installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You will be responsible for working on both new and existing electrical lines, circuits, and equipment, including fixtures, panels, switches, and controls. This includes diagnosing issues, repairing or replacing components and testing functionality. You will use your expertise to ensure that all electrical components are functioning efficiently and safely, utilizing a variety of tools and maintaining compliance with all safety regulations.

Qualifications: Please provide certification with application

City & Guilds/ NVQ level 3 Award in the requirements electrical installations BS 7671-18th Edition Regulation, in addition to:

City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 Award in an appropriate discipline, (i.e Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2391).

An appropriate, UK valid driver's license (category B) is required for the position.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of complete systems.
3. Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e., test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, watt meters, ohmeters, and ammeters.
4. Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as, screwdrivers, pliers, wire-cutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders.
5. Skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.
6. Ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment without more than normal supervision.

What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. You must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
5. Your hours of work will be 19.5 hours per week on an as rostered schedule (between 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
6. This is a Mission Essential position performing a Mission Critical Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.
7. You will be required to pass a flight line driving examination after suitable training has been given.
8. You may be required to participate in local disaster, accident, and contingency exercises and work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste. You will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions.
9. A pre-appointment physical/health screening is required. The position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth. You will frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifts items that weigh over 40 pounds with assistance from other workers.
10. You must successfully obtain and maintain any necessary occupational related training/certificates in accordance with US and UK industry standards, and complete all management directed training.
11. You must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance required for this position.
12. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing; however, positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing.
13. You may be required to facilitate an on-call function over a 24-hour period covering 7 days a week as per the manning roster, but is not guaranteed.
