We are looking for a PA to join a small, friendly team supporting an independent lady in her 50s who lives with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (joint hypermobility). She enjoys her independence, living at home with her two small dogs, and loves spending time in her garden, watching wildlife, and meeting new people. This is a great opportunity for someone who is caring, reliable, and enjoys helping others maintain their independence in a relaxed and welcoming home.
The role involves assisting with a daily personal care routine, including helping with braces for joint support, meal preparation, light domestic tasks around the home, and providing assistance when going out for shopping or appointments. The role also includes offering friendly companionship and being a reassuring presence day to day. Please note that this is a smoking environment.
We’re looking for someone with good communication skills who remains calm under pressure and can work with kindness, patience, and respect. A love of animals, especially dogs, will help you feel right at home.
If you’re a compassionate, capable person who enjoys meaningful work and would like to make a genuine difference in someone’s life, we’d love to hear from you.
Duties include:
- Medication prompting/administering
- Personal grooming
- Moving and handling
- Clinical tasks
- Other relevant duties as required
- Dressing / undressing
- Bathroom assistance
- Light domestic tasks around the home
Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Able to tolerate the employer smoking in the workplace
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
- Happy to work in a smoking environment
Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
