Self-Employed Personal Assistant – Overnight (Sleeping-In Shifts)
We are looking for kind, caring and compassionate self-employed Personal Assistants to join a small team of existing PAs supporting our Mum in her own home.
Our Mum is in her 70s and requires some overnight support, primarily for companionship and reassurance. The main requirement is simply knowing that someone is there — someone she can talk to if needed and who can help her feel safe and settled during the night. She has a small dog, so an animal lover is essential.
Support may occasionally include:
- Providing reassurance and companionship
- Preparing a light snack
- Supporting with medication
- Assisting with personal care if required
The full extent of the duties will be discussed in more detail at interview.
This role would suit someone who is patient, understanding and able to provide calm, person-centred support overnight.
The location is rural, so a car driver would be beneficial.
Duties include:
- Medication prompting/administering
- Personal grooming
- Moving and handling
- Clinical tasks
- Other relevant duties as required
- Companionship
- Dressing / undressing
- Bathroom assistance
Candidate qualities:
- Respectful of the employer's privacy and confidentiality
- Reliable with good timekeeping
- Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
- Hygienic, tidy and well organised
- Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
- Patient and possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Honest and cheerful
- Creative
- Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
- Must be comfortable with pets
- Able to always work to high standards of health & safety
Additional requirements
Non-smoker due to medical reasons
Notes:
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check if required.
If you are successful in your application for this position, you will be either engaged directly or employed by the individual employer and not by Independent Lives. The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on the suitability and agreement with the employer. If the role is employed, you will be entitled to holiday pay and issued an employment contract.
Please note: If you do not hear back within three weeks of applying, unfortunately your application has not been successful on this occasion.
