Calderdale Royal Hospital is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Switchboard / Helpdesk Operator to join our team.
This role is vital in ensuring fast, accurate, and compassionate communication between patients, families, clinical teams, and external callers.
As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, and staff, this role is essential to the smooth running of hospital services.
The Role
Answer and route internal and external calls promptly and professionally
Operate paging systems, bleeps, and critical alarms
Receive maintenance requests and log jobs accurately on the computer system
Respond appropriately to emergency calls and hospital codes
Follow hospital policies and procedures at all times
Maintain clear, accurate communication with clinical and non-clinical teams
About You
Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure or emergency situations
Strong verbal communication and active listening skills
Good multitasking and problem-solving abilities
Professional, courteous, and compassionate manner
Previous experience in customer service, call centre, or switchboard operations (preferred)
