Summary

We are recruiting a Ranger at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37
Contract Type: 2 x Full Time, Fixed Term Until 4th October 2026
Location: Cwmcarn Forest Drive

Team: Regeneration Services – Visitor Economy

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £25,583 - £25,989 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

Two seasonal Rangers are required to support the full time Ranger in the day-to-day management of the Forest Drive through Main season. The primary responsibility of the post is to ensure that the land managed by the council is safe, well maintained and accessible.

The post-holders will work with the full time Ranger to maintain the destination to ensure that visitors have an excellent experience. This is an exciting role at the front line of the Team as the destination aims to grow to become one of the most outstanding tourist attractions in Wales.

The successful candidates will have experience in a similar role, ideally in a comparable working environment. The post will commence on 17th March 2026 and terminate on 4th October 2026.

Shortlisted applicants will be expected to attend an interview to be held at Cwmcarn Forest Drive Visitor Centre.

For the role, we ask that you have:

1. Level 2 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework for Wales. For example, NVQ Level 2 or GCSEs.
2. Working knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations.
3. Previous experience in a similar role.
4. Full UK (Category B) driving licence to drive Council vehicles. For example, buggy, 4x4.

We have excellent benefits including the Local Government Pension Scheme, agile working patterns and staff discount schemes.
