Summary

We are recruiting an Assistant Engineer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 hours (7.24 Monday – Friday)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Location: Ty Penallta

Team: Highway Engineering Group

This position offers an excellent opportunity to become part of our team and provide support across the organization.

We pay an attractive salary of £35,412 - £38,220 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

The successful candidate will support the highways design and project management team, contributing to the delivery of infrastructure schemes including junction and highway improvements, road safety schemes, safe routes, active travel, carparks and sustainable drainage.

The post involves design work, site supervision, contract administration, and stakeholder liaison. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure high-quality service delivery.

For the role, we ask that you have:

1. A relevant Level 4 or 5 qualification on the Credit and Qualifications Framework. For example HNC or HND in Civil Engineering.
2. A working knowledge of construction related design standards, specifications and methods of measurement.
3. Relevant construction industry experience with a broad based knowledge of construction.
4. Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to undertake inspections, contract supervision and attend meetings.
