Summary
About the role
This role sits within the central Analytics & Insight Chapter and the PowerBI & Automation Squad, focused on democratizing data across Tesco Mobile. You’ll enable stakeholders to access insights easily, understand where to source information, and use it for maximum value.
Working in an Agile environment, you’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and deliver solutions that drive customer-led commercial decisions. You’ll combine technical expertise in PowerBI/MS Fabric and SQL with strong communication skills to turn data into clear, actionable insights.
We’re looking for someone commercially aware, a confident storyteller, and willing to challenge the status quo, ensuring decisions keep the customer at the heart. You’ll provide the “so what” behind the data, delivering insight with impact.
You will be responsible for
- Developing, maintaining, and enhancing insightful, visually engaging BI reports and dashboards.
- Translating business briefs into actionable insights using internal and external data sources for a holistic view.
- Driving product performance and stakeholder engagement as part of the PowerBI & Analytics Squad.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand needs, challenge briefs, and optimize dashboards based on feedback.
- Applying your expertise to deliver at pace through short cycles of experimentation with a fail-fast, learn-fast mindset.
- Participating in squad ceremonies, raising impediments promptly, and continuously improving ways of working.
- Championing Agile principles to support the growth of agile maturity across the business.
- Acting as an autonomous decision-maker, using your knowledge to deliver the right solutions for customers.
- Providing accurate, timely, and impactful analysis to enable better business decisions.
- Simplifying complex data into clear, actionable insights and communicating them effectively.
- Serving as a trusted insight advisor to squads, building business knowledge, and identifying new opportunities.
- Driving process improvements through efficiencies and best practices.
- Ensuring squads leverage BI tools and feeding new requirements into the PowerBI & Automation Squad.
- Showcasing PowerBI capabilities through training to increase adoption and usage.
- Acting as a subject matter expert, coaching and mentoring less experienced team members.
- Demonstrating integrity and due diligence in all activities.
You will need
- Strong experience in developing BI dashboards and reports (PowerBI/MS Fabric preferred), with the ability to create compelling, actionable, and easy-to-understand visualisations.
- Proficiency in coding complex SQL queries on large relational databases, identifying relevant data sources, and summarising insights effectively.
- Highly numerate, ideally with a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a similar discipline.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve data-related issues logically and efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to adapt for both technical and non-technical audiences and manage stakeholders at all levels.
- A genuine interest in extracting insight from large datasets and sharing those insights to drive business decisions.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within squads, work with product backlogs, and self-organise to deliver at pace.
- Highly organised, capable of juggling multiple priorities concurrently.
- Comfortable promoting self-service data solutions and driving adoption across the business.
