We're looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Support Worker to join our team in Winnersh, Wokingham. You will support three individuals with learning disabilities, autism and epilepsy to live active, meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Who You Will Be SupportingYou will be supporting three individuals — two men and one woman — all of whom are wheelchair users.
Each person has different needs and routines. One gentleman requires 24-hour support due to partial sight loss, epilepsy and behaviours of distress. Together, they enjoy a wide range of activities, including:
- Theatre visits, activity clubs and walks
- Swimming — a real favourite
- Music festivals, bowling and seaside trips
- Community-based activities and outings
You will play a vital role in supporting them to enjoy their interests safely while maintaining dignity, independence and choice.
What You Will Be DoingThis is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will support with:
Personal care
Providing respectful and dignified personal care tailored to individual needs.
Community support
Offering 1:1 and 2:1 support when out and about, ensuring individuals can take part in the activities they enjoy.
Mobility support
Supporting people who use wheelchairs, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
Meal preparation
Preparing meals and supporting individuals with their dietary needs.
Medication administration
Ensuring medication is administered safely and in line with training and guidance.
Household support
Assisting with housework, shopping, cooking, budgeting and attending GP or hospital appointments.
Emotional support
Offering reassurance, understanding behaviours of distress and responding positively and calmly.
This role is contracted at 22.5 hours per week, with shifts worked flexibly across the week.
Typical shifts include:
- 7:00am - 3:00pm
- 2:00pm - 10:00pm
- Occasional sleep-ins: 10:00pm - 7:00am (£50 per sleep-in)
Rotas are provided in advance to support a healthy work-life balance.
