I am a 79-year-old lady living with rheumatoid arthritis, and I am looking for a kind, reliable Personal Assistant to support me at home and help me stay as independent as possible. I use a wheelchair most of the time, although I can walk short distances with a walker. I already have a wonderful PA who supports me four mornings a week, and I am now looking to build my team.

The role is for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, as well as at least five evening calls, totalling around 17 hours per week. Morning support will involve helping me to shower, get dressed, and prepare lunch and dinner. Evenings are more relaxed and focus on helping me get ready for bed and providing my evening meal. I am very flexible with the timing of the evening calls.

Alongside personal care, there will be some light household tasks such as tidying, a little ironing, and general help around the home. One of the most important parts of this role is companionship. I am unable to go out on my own, so I would really value someone who enjoys keeping me company, taking me to appointments, and occasionally going out for a coffee and a chat. As I am in a lot of pain most of the time, even small tasks like making a cup of coffee can be difficult, so your support will make a real difference to my day.

I manage my own medication and paperwork, so no support is needed in those areas. I do have a very lightweight electric wheelchair, which will need to be lifted into the boot of a car when we go out, so you’ll need to be comfortable with this.

You must also be happy around dogs, as I share my home with a small, very friendly rescue dog who absolutely loves cuddles and company.

If you are caring, patient, and enjoy supporting someone in a warm and friendly environment, this could be a very rewarding role.
