Summary

Temporary Secondary School Cover Supervisor

Are you looking for a flexible, high-energy role in education that fits around your schedule? We are seeking confident, assertive individuals to join our team as a Temporary Cover Supervisor.

This role is ideal for recent graduates, aspiring teachers, or professionals seeking ad-hoc or short-term work within a dynamic school environment. You will provide vital classroom cover, ensuring students continue to learn effectively even when their regular teacher is away.

The Role: Flexible Classroom Management

As a Temporary Cover Supervisor, you will be called upon to manage classrooms on a day-to-day or short-term basis. Your focus is on maintaining a productive atmosphere-no lesson planning or marking is required.

  • Classroom Supervision: Lead classes across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. You will deliver pre-set work provided by the department and ensure students stay focused.

  • Adaptability: Be prepared to work across various subjects daily-moving seamlessly between different departments as required.

  • Behaviour Management: Confidently apply the school's behaviour policy to maintain order and a positive learning environment.

  • Student Support: Help students navigate their tasks and answer general questions to keep them engaged with the curriculum.

  • Reporting: Take accurate registers and provide clear, concise feedback for the permanent teacher regarding student progress and conduct.

What We Are Looking For

We need "self-starters" who can walk into a new classroom and immediately command respect.

  • Confidence & Presence: The ability to lead a room of teenagers with authority and calm.

  • Excellent Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build quick rapport with students and staff.

  • Flexibility: A positive attitude toward changing schedules and the ability to adapt to different school environments.

  • Experience: Previous experience coaching, mentoring, or working with young people (ages 11-18) is highly desirable.

  • Reliability: Punctuality and dependability are essential to the school's daily operations.

Benefits of Temporary Cover Work
  • Flexibility: Choose the days you work to suit your personal commitments or studies.

  • Varied Experience: Gain exposure to different departments-perfect for building a CV for future teacher training (PGCE/SCITT).

  • Work-Life Balance: No take-home work; your responsibilities end when the school day finishes.

  • Competitive Pay: Daily rates paid on a weekly basis.
