Summary

Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal | Independent Practice | Leicester

Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE | Full-time or Part-time | Certificate Holder Required (Non-Surgical)

An award-winning, independent small animal practice is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for a vet with a certificate in a medical discipline (excluding surgery) who is looking to work in a practice where their voice is genuinely heard and valued.

The Practice

• Independent, 9-vet, family-run small animal practice
• RCVS-accredited
• Located in the heart of the National Forest

The Role

• Small animal Veterinary Surgeon position
• Ideal for an experienced vet with a medical certificate (medicine, imaging, cardiology, dermatology, etc.)
• Flexible full-time or part-time options available
• Excellent clinical freedom with strong referral relationships

The practice is also launching a new chronic pain clinic, complementing an established in-house acupuncture service.

Work-Life Balance & Rota

Work-life balance is a core value, and the rota has been designed collaboratively by the whole team:
• Choice of:
o 5-day week with early finishes and late starts, or
o 4-day week with a fixed day off
• Protected admin time for calls to ensure on-time finishes
• No client calls after 7pm
• 2 consecutive Saturday mornings in 6 weeks, followed by 4 completely free weekends
• Saturday surgeries finish at 1:30pm
• No Sundays or bank holidays
• No out-of-hours (covered by a local OOH provider)

Facilities & Equipment

The practice is exceptionally well equipped, including:
• Blood pressure monitors in every consult room
• Fully equipped in-house laboratory (blood & urine analysers)
• Ultrasound with Doppler, linear and cardiac probes
• Rhino-, broncho- and gastroscopes
• Dedicated dental theatre with dental generator

Strong working relationships exist with local referral centres to support complex cases.

The practice is based in a beautiful rural location, close to:
• The Peak District

Salary & Benefits Package

• Salary up to £70,000, depending on experience and qualifications
• Pay review after 6 months
• Certificates encouraged and fully funded
• Weekly in-house CPD (equivalent to 12 hours CPD)
• 5 weeks annual leave, with buy-back up to 7 weeks
