Summary
Purpose of the Role:
To provide person-centred support that empowers adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues to live fulfilling, independent, and meaningful lives, while promoting dignity, choice, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
Support individuals with daily living activities such as encouragement and support with personal hygiene, meal preparation and household tasks. Ability to cook and clean is essential.
Encourage and assist to access the community, health appointments and social/hobbies.
Build trusting, respectful relationships with service users, their families, and other professionals.
Follow individual support plans, ensuring needs and preferences are met.
Maintain accurate records, including daily notes, incident reports, and support updates.
Safeguard the wellbeing of service users, reporting concerns promptly.
Work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and inclusive environment.
Skills & Qualities:
Compassion, patience and empathy.
Good communication.
Ability to adapt to different needs and situations.
Reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to equality and diversity.
Experience in a care or support role (desirable but not always essential):
Knowledge of learning disabilities and related support needs would be an advantage.
Training will be given on all aspects of the role including First Aid, Safe Guarding Vulnerable Adults, Fire Safety, Food Hygiene etc.
Working Hours:
30 hours per week which will cover full day Friday, Saturday afternoon and full day on Sundays. No other days available. Occasional night support (sleep in).
Place of work:
A large house in the Pitsmoor area of Sheffield.- housing 12 service users.
