Job details
Join our team as our Risk Manager! Are you an innovative leader with a passion for strengthening a risk-aware culture? We are on the search for a dedicated Risk Manager to enhance our internal governance and assurance processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact within our council whilst ensuring that risk management is effectively integrated into our daily operations.

About the role
As the Risk Manager, you will be at the forefront of developing and promoting a robust risk management culture across Huntingdonshire District Council. Your primary responsibilities will be to implement our Risk Management Strategy, guiding managers in identifying, quantifying, and mitigating risks, and to provide assurance to our Corporate Governance Committee. You will create and deliver a comprehensive training programme to empower service managers with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of risk management.

A key part of your role will involve producing insightful reports that detail our organisational risks using specialised software, ensuring that both officers and Members are well-informed. You will present these findings to committees, illustrating how our risks are managed and highlighting necessary improvements. Collaboration with the Internal Audit team will be essential as you work together to assess mitigating controls and enhance our overall risk management framework.

About you
We are seeking a confident, proactive, and analytical individual with a strong background in risk management and compliance. Your experience should include promoting a culture of continuous improvement within a regulated environment, as well as operational and people management. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, enabling you to articulate complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. Your ability to build relationships at all levels of the organisation will be critical as you work to embed risk awareness throughout our teams. You will be comfortable operating within a political environment. With a passion for driving quality improvements, you will be ready to challenge the status quo and provide strategic insights that align with our vision for a resilient and accountable council.

If you are eager to contribute to a culture of excellence and make a difference in our community, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity!

An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. HDC does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
