Position: WAREHOUSE MANAGER

We are looking for an enthusiastic Warehouse Manager to join a fantastic team based in Ely, Cambridgeshire. Responsible for managing a number of key areas within the business and aligning them to our expectation of “Best in Class” service.

The role involves managing both people and processes whilst working closely with other departments across the business.

Main Roles & Responsibilities:
• Include inventory control and management by day to day running of the warehouse facility and warehouse team.
• Providing excellent managerial, interpersonal and communication skills to bring together all the aspects of this role to maintain a cost effective, safe operation that meets both Abels and our client’s expectations.
• Managing warehouse administration for Goods In and Goods Out in line with the company and client processes, achieving a safe working environment.
• Monitoring staff performance and efficiency. Managing through regular ‘one to one’s’ and team feedback sessions; review of hours to throughput, overview of the contract delivery operation when performed by staff.
• Motivating, organising and encouraging teamwork within the workforce, to ensure productivity targets are met and exceeded in a positive manner.
• To plan, coordinate and monitor the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods.
• Managing the returns process and work with the Quality Returns Controller to achieve monthly targets and to reduce unusable product and space.
• Efficiently utilise space and mechanical handling equipment, ensuring budget targets, quality, environmental and health and safety objectives are met.
• Managing the overall maintenance of all items in the facility to meet H&S requirements and safe economical usage.
• Logging incidents – investigate and report findings to achieve improvements
• Managing the overall cleanliness of warehouse, site and contents for a “Best in Class” service.
• Planning future capacity requirements and where appropriate make recommendations to overcome space issues. Maximising the warehouse utilisation overall.
• Managing and ensuring the Warehouse and Inventory Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI’s) are met.
• Producing meaningful reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis that assist in the operation and the client’s expectation for efficiency
• Managing efficient use of packing materials, recording usage for recharge and managing all waste control.
• Holding or attending meetings as required, be prepared to challenge factual processes that can be improved. Be an active part of the team.
• Strive to mentor and pass on experience to junior staff

Remuneration & Benefits Package:
• Starting Salary - £30,000k - £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Experience & Qualifications:
• Previous managerial experience - Essential
• Excellent customer service and organisational skills – Essential
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Essential
• Able to work both independently and within a team
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Full UK drivers’ licence (due to location) - Essential
• Forklift Licence - Desirable
