The family consists of two adults and lives in a spacious three-floor, five-bedroom property. The household is busy and family-oriented, with children regularly present during the week and at weekends, therefore the family are looking for a discreet, physically fit, and child-friendly housekeeper who is comfortable working in an active home environment. This role would suit someone practical, hands-on, and efficient, who enjoys keeping a home clean, tidy, and running smoothly without the pressure of exceptionally high or specialist cleaning standards.
Tonbridge is a charming and well-connected Kent town with excellent local amenities. This is a live-out position and is easily accessible by public transport, making it convenient for candidates commuting from surrounding areas. However, as the role includes occasional local shopping trips to a nearby supermarket located a short drive away, a candidate with their own car is desirable.
Working as a Housekeeper in this role offers a straightforward and well-balanced position, with approximately 50% of time dedicated to laundry and ironing and 50% to general cleaning duties. The family are seeking a housekeeper who is organized, discreet, and physically capable of managing a large property efficiently within limited working hours. Duties will focus on maintaining cleanliness and order throughout the home rather than specialist or high-detail work. No childcare responsibilities are expected.
This is a self-employed position, offering flexibility alongside a standard holiday entitlement of four weeks per year.
Main duties of the Part-Time Housekeeper:
General cleaning of the three-floor, five-bedroom property
Hoovering, dusting, and maintaining tidy living areas
Cleaning bathrooms and kitchen to a good everyday standard
Laundry and ironing (no designer or specialist garments)
Changing bed linen
Keeping the home organised and presentable
Occasional local shopping for the family (short driving distance)
Working efficiently and independently within limited hours
Remaining discreet and professional in a busy family household
Requirements for this Part-Time Housekeeper job:
Minimum of 3 years of relevant private housekeeping experience
Two excellent checkable references
Legal right to work in the UK
Conversational level of English
