Job Title: Community Support Assistant (Female)*

Location: Chatham, East Malling, Sittingbourne, Gillingham
(All locations – location preference cannot be selected)

Job Type: Part-Time
Working Hours: Shifts between 8:00am and 5:00pm
Driving Requirement: Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle essential

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated female Community Support Assistant to provide essential support to individuals living in the community. This role is being recruited in accordance with Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, due to the personal care needs and preferences of the people we support, who are female.

The successful candidate will have experience in community-based or outreach care, a genuine passion for supporting others, and the ability to promote dignity, independence, and well-being. You will assist individuals with daily living activities, accessing the community, medication support, and providing both physical and emotional assistance in line with person-centred support plans.

Key Responsibilities

Provide personal care, including assistance with washing, dressing, grooming, and continence support.

Support with meal preparation and ensuring dietary preferences are respected.

Prompt and/or administer medication as per agreed care plans.

Support individuals to safely access their community, attend appointments, and engage in meaningful activities.

Encourage independence and confidence while ensuring safety and dignity are maintained.

Maintain cleanliness, safety, and hygiene within clients’ home environments.

Record accurate notes and report any changes in well-being or circumstances promptly.

Build trusting, respectful relationships with clients and their families.

Travel between client visits in a timely, safe, and professional manner.

Requirements

Previous experience in community care, outreach work, or domiciliary support is highly desirable.

Confident and competent in delivering personal and practical care.

Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and person-centred care principles.

Basic knowledge of medication handling and first aid.

Excellent communication skills and a supportive, empathetic approach.

Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team.

Additional Information

This role is open to female applicants only, in line with the occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Part 1 of the Equality Act 2010, as the role involves providing personal care to female clients who have requested same-gender care for reasons of dignity and privacy.

Sponsorship may be available for full-time positions following successful completion of a probation period and a demonstrated suitability for the role.
