Summary

To be responsible for the development and provision of dietetic service to the gynaecology and obstetrics inpatient and outpatient services, and to other areas as and when required in response to service needs as part of the Trust/department pressure areas. To provide a diabetes service to all womens services, including Type I, Type II, and gestational diabetes. The above services will include all other wards as required by the service and the Trust/department pressure area. To set up outpatient clinics for womens services, including gestational diabetes, antenatal, obesity as required by the service. To be responsible for the operational running of all outpatient clinics. To explore new and innovative ways of working with the dietetic services manager and wider MDT to ensure safer, faster, better care and discharges for both inpatients and outpatients. To assess, treat and provide highly specialist treatment and advice plans to patients, carers and clinicians To advice the relevant medical/surgical teams regarding any recommendations for medications, and if any changes are required To liaise with appropriate consultants to admit, safely discharge patients for nutrition support with the aim to optimise treatment outcomes To be competent in the use of anthropometric equipment for assessment of nutritional status To be responsible for the complex and safe discharge planning and follow up for those patients requiring artificial nutritional support in the community and other areas To ensure effective liaison and communication with MDT and ward staff, outpatients staff, and safe treatment plans are in place prior to patient discharges to prevent/reduce readmissions. To provide a patient focused service and participate in seven day service as required by the Trust and department. You will work on a rota basis with all other staff within the department. To advise and liaise with the catering staff concerning the specialist dietary needs for these patients To develop and implement policies for this area To contribute to developing, evaluating and reviewing existing resources To initiate and participate in research and audit To participate in the training, development and supervision of junior staff To develop and implement education programmes for inpatients and outpatients, including, within and out-with the Trust. To organise and undertake training sessions for Doctors including the Academic sessions, and other staff, within and out-with the Trust.
