Summary
- 40 hours per week
- Average 3.5 per week = 7 days over fortnight period
- 2 x 12 hour shifts week 1 & 5 x 12 hour shifts week 2 on days this then follows the same pattern for nights with a 40 minute break
- £12.79 per hour

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly professional, vigilant and customer-focusedCCTV Operative to join our team at Merville Barracks, Circular Road South, Colchester, CO2 7UT.In this critical role, you will help maintain the safety and security of the Garrison by monitoring systems, controlling access, and responding swiftly to incidents in alignment with Ministry of Defence (MoD) protocols and Sodexo standards.
What you’ll do:
Security & MonitoringControl and monitor the access of personnel and vehicles to the Garrison site in accordance with MoD security requirements.
Monitor CCTV, Access Control and other protective systems, remaining alert to any signs of security breach or abnormal activity.
Act as first-line response to system activations, incidents, alarms, and reporting of faults.
Immediately escalate any security concerns to the appropriate authority personnel.
Follow correct incident reporting procedures and accurately complete daily occurrence and incident logs.
Diligently complete handover/takeover duties, ensuring all records are checked and updated.
Greet and assist staff, visitors, contractors and clients, ensuring full compliance with identification requirements and site protocols.
Provide accurate information, relay messages, and support visitors with queries to maintain an excellent customer experience.
Maintain a clean, professional reception/entry environment that reflects the standards of the client and the MoD.
Uphold exemplary levels of personal appearance, uniform standards, and personal hygiene at all times.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as instructed by management.
What you bring:
- Ability to interact with employees, contractors, consultants, visitors, and management as well as local police and fire authorities
- Standard SIA license & CCTV License
- Background in CCTV
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in working in a similar role
- Knowledge of security techniques and site and local emergency procedures
- Basic computer literacy
Desirable
Experience working within a military or high-security environment.
Track record of administrative or control room duties.
Existing SC Clearance (or the ability to obtain it).
Knowledge of security techniques, emergency procedures, and MoD protocols.
