Summary

Manufacturing Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join a busy engineering team, supporting operational activities and contributing to the design and development of manufactured products. This role plays a key part in ensuring products are designed to meet customer requirements while achieving the lowest overall manufacturing cost.

The Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be involved in a broad range of design, engineering and manufacturing support activities. You will work closely with production, sales, customers and suppliers to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create artwork and tooling from customer-supplied drawings and artwork to meet production, quality and timing requirements


  • Generate Bills of Materials and routings accurately within the system


  • Liaise with customers and suppliers on technical matters and problem-solving


  • Provide technical support to the sales team


  • Identify alternative materials and engineering solutions to meet customer needs


  • Prepare accurate costings to support quotations


  • Maintain engineering databases and documentation with a high level of accuracy


  • Work with production teams to set, apply and maintain standard production times


  • Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)


  • Drive improvements in cost effectiveness, efficiency and yield


  • Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of quality management systems


  • Contribute to the development of new projects


    Working Hours

    This is a full-time role based on a 38.5-hour, five-day working week. Additional hours may be required from time to time, in line with business needs and health, safety and environmental legislation.

    Skills and Experience
    • A good general background in product or manufacturing engineering, gained through education or experience


    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy


    • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload


    • Experience using AutoCAD LT and Adobe Illustrator is desirable, though training can be provided


    • Familiarity with MRP systems and Microsoft Office tools


    • Knowledge of electronics would be an advantage but is not essential
