Serco Leisure operates a diverse portfolio of leisure and wellness facilities across the UK, including large public leisure centres and premium health club environments. We are recruiting a Club Manager for Lockmeadow Health Club, a flagship site within the Kent cluster. This role is responsible for the safe, effective and high-quality day-to-day operation of the health club, with a particular focus on service delivery, operational excellence, people leadership and health and safety. Reporting to the General Manager (Kent Cluster), the Club Manager will lead the site-based team at Lockmeadow, work closely with central support functions, and provide strong operational leadership — particularly across aquatics, plant, compliance and duty management — to complement the strategic and financial leadership held at General Manager level.

What you’ll do

- Lead and champion a strong health, safety and environmental culture, ensuring full compliance with legislation, Serco governance and industry best practice.
- Take primary responsibility for the operational running of Lockmeadow Health Club, ensuring smooth daily delivery across all areas of the facility. Ability to think strategically, influence effectively and deliver results at pace.
- Provide specialist leadership in pool operations, plant management, and aquatic safety systems, working closely with the General Manager on risk management and compliance.
- Lead customer service excellence across the site, ensuring Lockmeadow consistently delivers a premium health club experience aligned to the Serco Way.
- Recruit, develop and engage operational teams, ensuring the facility is appropriately staffed, trained and performance-managed.
- Support the delivery of the site business plan through operational efficiency, member experience and service quality (with overall financial accountability retained by the General Manager).
- Act as the senior on-site manager in the absence of the General Manager and take control during emergency situations where required.

What you’ll bring

- Proven management experience in a health club or leisure environment, with experience leading multi-disciplinary operational teams.
- Strong operational leadership capability, particularly in aquatics, plant operations, and health & safety compliance
- Demonstrable experience in team leadership, coaching and staff development.
- Ability to think clearly under pressure and manage high-demand operational environments.
- Excellent customer service leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification, Pool Plant Operators Certificate (where applicable) and First Aid at Work, or willingness to obtain.
- IOSH Managing Safely and a Level 3 qualification are desirable.
