Summary
The Medical Director provides high-level clinical governance and strategic oversight for the organisations training programmes, ensuring they remain safe, evidence-based, and aligned with professional and regulatory standards. Operating primarily in an advisory capacity, the role focuses on monitoring quality, reviewing outcomes, and offering expert guidance to support the continuous improvement of training delivery. The post-holder helps set the clinical direction of the education portfolio and ensures that programmes maintain credibility, accuracy, and relevance without requiring daily operational involvement. While largely a consultative role, the Medical Director contributes to the development and periodic review of clinical content and may offer targeted support during key programme updates, complex quality matters, or when specialist input is required. On an occasional basis, and only where necessary, the post-holder may provide limited support or representation to uphold clinical standards. Through this strategic level of engagement, the Medical Director reinforces the organisations commitment to high-quality clinical education while enabling operational teams to manage day-to-day delivery.
