Summary


The Matron for Orthopaedics and Plastic Surgery will provide clinical and professional leadership to nursing teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient centered care. This role involves managing the day to day nursing service, influencing strategic direction, and contributing to service development in line with patient needs and organizational objectives. The post holder will collaborate closely with service leads, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective care delivery while driving continuous improvement and innovation.
• Leadership & Management:Provide clinical and professional leadership to nursing teams, ensuring that nursing staff are supported, competent, and able to deliver high-quality care across orthopaedic and plastic surgery services.
• Strategic Development:Collaborate with service leads and consultants to shape the strategic direction of the service, contributing to the achievement of corporate objectives.
• Service Improvement & Innovation:Lead service improvement initiatives, implementing change management processes to modernize nursing roles and enhance patient care.
• Patient Centered Care:Ensure that care delivery is patient-focused, safe, and effective, while maintaining a high level of clinical expertise in orthopaedics and plastic surgery.
• Collaboration & Governance:Work with multidisciplinary teams, external organizations, and stakeholders to ensure effective governance, quality standards, and compliance are met.
• Staff Development:Oversee the development and mentorship of the nursing team, fostering professional growth and ensuring clinical competence.
• Operational Management:Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of nursing services, including staffing, budgeting, and resource allocation.
• Visibility & Accessibility:Be visible and accessible to staff, patients, and visitors, ensuring a supportive environment where nursing staff are well-equipped to perform their roles.
