Job introduction

We are looking for a Compliance Officer to join our Regulatory Services Team within the Licensing Service. The role of the compliance officer requires office based and field-based activities to assist with the operational delivery and administrative functions, providing support to senior officers and providing general support and advice to the Senior Compliance Liaison roles. This is a full-time role based at the Civic Offices/or working across the City and includes a requirement to undertake some of these duties outside of normal business hours, typically averaging 7.4 hours a week, for which a shift allowance is payable. Typically, this will involve working at night, weekends, bank holidays, dependent on the needs of the service.

Your new role

This is a varied role where you will support in a range of day-to-day duties. The focus of this role is to support businesses to achieve high standards of regulatory compliance.

You will be providing specialist technical advice and guidance to senior colleagues and/or provide frontline services to customers. The role requires you to be in the office and out in the field to assist with the wide range of regulatory service duties both operational delivery and administrative functions. You will be working as part of a team responsible for delivering against specific targets and mandated legislative requirements. You will make informed decisions to determine the necessary course of action required whilst keeping up to date with relevant laws and regulations. The role will require you to collaborate with other departments, customers and businesses whilst educating employees and business on not only the regulations/requirements but also the impact on them if these are not complied with. In addition, you will perform general administrative duties and provide technical support required by the teams which will include projects, investigations and enforcement exercises, taking notes of meetings and devising inspections plans.

Who is the person summary:

With a working knowledge of and experience in either delivering licensing function and/or work in a similar regulatory environment you will have well developed interpersonal and analytical skills. With excellent communication skills you will have confidence and the ability to work on your own initiative reaching appropriate conclusions first time. You will have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail whilst meeting deadlines and experience of investigating and gathering evidence. You will also be able to deal with confrontational situations and have experience of report writing. A full, valid driving licence would be preferred or the ability to travel during the course of work when necessary.
