Summary

Bayleaf Care: Amazing Things Are Happening Here!

We are looking for teaching assistants to support at our special school in Burton on Trent, which is a 5-minute walk from Burton train station. This P/MLD school teaches pupils with specific learning needs. Our young people will have Learning Disabilities. The salary is £23,000 to £24,000 depending on experience and this salary is NOT a pro rata salary.

This a full-time permanent role due to start in April 2026.



About The Guildhall School

Bayleaf Care is delighted to announce the creation of The Guild Hall School, a brand-new, purpose-built special school designed to meet the needs of young people with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (P/MLD).

Opening in April 2026, The School will provide outstanding education and care for up to 40 pupils aged 7-18, all of whom require 1:1 support. Our curriculum will be tailored to each learner's individual needs, focusing on communication, independence, sensory learning, life skills, and functional literacy and numeracy. We will draw on frameworks such as EQUALS, ASDAN, Oak Academy, and AQA.

· A P/MLD school also opening in April 2026

· 2 leaving care services opening in 2026

· 3 adult transition homes (CQC registered) opening in 2026



Each home has its own therapist, and all staff receive training in trauma-informed practice.

Job overview:

The school follows the EQUALs Informal, Semi Formal and Formal Curriculum pathway along with ASDAN towards Independence (14-16 years)

You will need to be able to work with young people with emotional and behavioral difficulties.

You will be required to adapt lessons to meet our student's needs.

Deliver specific intervention to help students catch up on their learning and assist is creating a positive nurturing environment where our students can flourish.

Candidates need to be flexible and resilient with the desire to improve the outcomes of these sometimes quite complex young people.



The school day starts at 8.30am and finishes at 4pm

There is a comprehensive induction, and ongoing training.
