Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

We have recently opened our Preschool / Nursery class for 3 and 4 year olds. We are so excited about this new addition to our Infant School and are looking for an experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant / Practitioner to join our fabulous team.

Working daily during term time, Monday to Friday you will work closely with the classroom teaching team as well as the After School Club Leader. The hours will be from mid-morning and will include supporting children throughout lunchtime, through the afternoon session and for the after school session. The candidate will need to hold a Paediatric First Aid certificate or be willing to complete a suitable course.

Essential Qualifications:

Candidates must have:-

• An Early Years Level 3 qualification which is considered ‘full and relevant’ according to the EYFS Framework (follow link for details – EYFS Qualifications).

Please note this qualification or equivalent (e.g. QTS) is essential due to DFE guidance and applicants who do not have this qualification will not be shortlisted.

• Candidates must also have experience of working with children within the age 0-5.

• Has the ability to work in a team, communicate with others, be flexible and work off their own initiative
• Has excellent knowledge and understanding of the EYFS curriculum requirements
• Understands the importance of learning through play
• Is positive, enthusiastic, caring and kind
• Is adaptable and flexible
• Has experience of working with children with SEND
• Has a commitment to safeguarding children
• Has a good awareness of procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection
• Is committed to a strong partnership between home and school
• Has the ability to establish good professional relationships with parents, children, governors and colleagues
• Has a willingness to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the school

Desirable

• A PFA qualification
• Have leadership skills and be able to lead and support the After School Club Team for Preschool
• Be organised and able to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team

Further details about the role

To ensure consistency for the children we would ideally like someone to work 5 days per week, Monday – Friday and be present for all sessions starting late morning and working through to After School Club. The most important thing for us is to find a member of our team who is the right fit for our school and brings enthusiasm alongside their experience. Therefore we are willing to discuss some flexibility around hours and number of days for the right candidate. Visits to see our fabulous Preschool are encouraged.
