Summary

BMS Engineer

Location: Reading / Field-based
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000

We are looking for an experienced BMS Engineer to join our Service & Maintenance team. You will play a key role in optimising energy performance and comfort control across a wide range of commercial, industrial and public sector buildings.

Working in a field-based environment, you'll be responsible for maintaining, fault-finding and improving Building Management Systems, while delivering excellent service to our clients.

  • Service and maintenance of Building Management Systems
  • Fault finding, diagnostics and energy performance reviews
  • Identifying, reporting and quoting for system repairs, upgrades and enhancements
  • Supporting continuous improvement of system efficiency and performance
  • Working closely with the Service Manager (or Managing Director when required)
  • Engaging professionally with clients and stakeholders at all levels

Qualifications

  • Recognised and relevant qualification in BEMS
  • Appropriate trade qualifications
  • Current and relevant Health & Safety qualification

Experience & Knowledge

  • Proven experience working with BMS Control systems such as Trend, Tridium, Siemens and RDM.
  • Experience in mobile, multi-site commercial environments
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems
  • Experience working with CAFM systems in a field-based team
  • Solid knowledge of network architectures (TCP/IP, MSTP, RS485)
  • Strong understanding of communications protocols
  • Knowledge of field devices including sensors, valves, actuators, dampers, VSDs, switches and relays
  • Experience with supervisor software and control platforms

  • Ability to select, install, configure and update control hardware and logic
  • Comfortable working independently or under supervision
  • Strong communication skills, both internal and external
  • Proactive, adaptable and resilient
  • IT literate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage workload using own initiative in a fast-paced environment
