Summary
Electromechanical Fitter / Installer
Full-time, Permanent
Pay Rate: £17.50 per hour + Overtime at 1.5x basic rate
Location: Cheltenham, onsite work at customer sites in the UK and North America
Hours: 40 hours per week
* Monday-Thursday: 08:00-17:00 (30-minute unpaid lunch)
* Friday: 08:00-14:00
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Electromechanical Fitter / Installer to join our team. This role involves working both in-house and onsite at customer locations to assemble and install automation machinery and systems. You will take ownership of your tasks, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standard.
The role is hands-on and versatile: you will be expected to work on mechanical assemblies, run wiring where required, and adapt to the unique challenges of each project. Flexibility, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Assemble and install automation machinery and systems, including conveyors, robotics, and packaging equipment
* Work from engineering drawings, schematics, and method statements
* Perform basic electrical wiring as required
* Ensure work meets quality standards and project specifications
* Maintain a safe and tidy working environment
* Collaborate with team members and liaise with customers onsite
* Travel to UK and international customer sites as required (approx. 30-40% of the time)
Skills & Experience
* Apprentice-trained or qualified Mechanical and/or Electrical Fitter/Assembler preferred
* 3+ years of experience building/installing industrial machinery or conveyors
* Skilled in using hand tools and power tools
* Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings
* Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic systems, and valves is a plus
* Experience working on medium-sized assemblies and sub-assemblies
* Familiarity with hygienic environments and health & safety standards
* Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and able to work independently or in a team
Key Requirements
* Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision
* Open to learning new skills, including electrical work and new methods
* Willingness and flexibility to travel (typically up to 2 weeks at a time, approx. 6x per year)
* Trustworthy, reliable, and a strong communicator
* Fluent in English (additional languages a plus)
* Positive "can-do" attitude
* Full UK driving licence (with ?3 penalty points) and confident travelling internationally
* No criminal convictions that prevent overseas travel
* British/EU passport holders only (for entry to USA/Canada without visa)
* Presentable, articulate, and professional
* Committed to health and safety, never taking shortcuts
