As aSous ChefatSodexoinNuffieldHospital Highgate,you’ll play a vital role in preparing high-quality meals that support patientwellbeing and enhance the overall dining experience.You’ll be responsible for managing your own sectionof the kitchen, ensuring every dish meets our high standards.If you’re passionate about food, thrive in afast-paced environment, and want to be part of a purpose-driven team — this isthe role for you. What you’ll do:

  • Order food and non-food supplies in line with approved suppliers and budgets
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and Health & Safety
  • Complete all compliance records (HACCP, COSHH, temperature and safety checks)
  • Ensure food quality, consistency, and presentation meet company standards
  • Support menu development and new food initiatives
  • Manage stock, portion control, and waste effectively
  • Lead, train, and develop staff; manage rotas and labour budgets
  • Deputise for management when required
  • Work closely with front-of-house teams to deliver excellent service
  • Prepare for and support internal and external audits
  • Maintain a professional image and uphold safeguarding standards
  • Work independently, accurately, and effectively under pressure

What you bring:

  • Food Hygiene Certificate level 3 - preferable
  • At least 3 years’ experience within high volume catering
  • Previous experience at Sous chef level and shift leadership
  • Management experience encompassing team development
  • Excellent culinary skills
  • Hold valid ‘Intermediate Food Hygiene’ certificate
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with all stakeholders
  • Good IT skills with knowledge of word and excel
  • High standards of personal presentation
  • Experience with Food Allergies, Special Diets and Labelling
  • Up to date with latest trends and industry developments
  • General Secondary Education or equivalent (English and Maths essential)
  • Well-developed English language skills (written and spoken)
